China’s Huawei aims to reach driverless car technology in 2025

Huawei Technologies is one of the prominent one in China. Their main aim right now is to develop driverless passenger car technology by 2025. This is announced as a statement by an executive in reports.

The world’s largest telecommunications equipment maker diversifies its business in the face of U.S. sanctions had led this company to this goal. Wang Jun is the senior executive at Huawei’s smart vehicle unit. He told in an industry conference that their team’s goal is to reach true driverless passenger cars in 2025.

Dozens of startups, automakers and large technology firms such as internet search leader Baidu Inc are all accelerating their work on self-driving vehicle systems. And this hard work is expected to bring a sea change to the transportation industry. Huawei’s smartphone business was hammered by the US sanctions. Hence, they have pivoted to smart electric vehicles. The company was labelled as a threat to U.S. national security by the previous Trump administration. And this is of course denied by the company.
