Cloud based VR authoring tool with xAPI Capability launched

A virtual reality (VR) authoring tool specifically designed for use in learning and assessment, have been launched by Digital learning and assessment specialists, eCom. The tool has been successfully tested in various fields such as education, construction and medicine. It is called as eNetReality™.

This is also continued to be to be trialled by a pilot group of organizations in the academic, charity and public sectors. eNetReality is developed by eCom USA Learning Solutions. This is a sister company of eCom Scotland. It is developed specifically to help working with disadvantaged students, to make a learning experience more accessible. Tanya MacDonald, head of eCom’s eNetReality development team had quoted about this.

This allows colleges to deliver its qualification assessment up-to-standard with in-person experiences. It also has the flexibility to deliver anywhere, even offline. Tanya said that it helps them to recognize the tool’s wider application, by the increased the number of participants who completed the program.

To create eLearning authoring tools, eCom had decided to combine the knowledge and expertise it had gained about VR and its own ability. Even non-technical people could use to create their own VR learning and assessment experiences. The result is a cloud-delivered tool that delivers its output across any device – from headset to smartphone or even, if required, a YouTube upload.

Tanya said that there is no need for designers to download the tool, as is it is being Cloud-based. It can work with any SCORM-compliant learning management system – including, of course, eCom’s own LMS: eNetLearn® and since it has x API capability, it can produce highly granular reports – indeed, to whatever level is required. Along with support from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), the eNetReality pilot group in the UK includes Liverpool-based Open Awards and education colleges in Fife, West Lothian and Wolverhampton.

Douglas McMillan, Director of the Faculty of Creative Industries at Fife College quoted that eNetReality offers a great user experience and helps them to track the outcome of each student’s assessment. The full VR tool is free to access for 14 days. eCom is Cyber Essentials Plus certified and its suite of digital learning and assessment products including eNetReality is available via G-Cloud 12.
